Story and image permissions

A good story should never come at the cost of somebody's privacy, ownership or trust.

Who may submit a story?

You may submit your own pet's story or nominate a rescue that can be checked through its official website or public channel. A nomination is a lead for our research; it is not permission to speak for a rescue, republish its words or use its media.

What you confirm when uploading a photograph

You should upload only a photograph you took, own or are authorised to share. You must have permission from any identifiable person in the image and from a parent or guardian where a child appears. Do not upload professional, charity, newspaper or social-media photographs simply because they are publicly visible.

What happens after submission

Submissions are reviewed and may be checked by email. Sending a story does not guarantee publication. We may edit for clarity, length, safety and house style without changing the essential meaning. For a community pet feature, we will check with the submitter before the story and supplied image are published.

Rescue features

We aim to contact the rescue through an official route, confirm key details and agree which photographs, quotations and links may be used. The finished page will identify the rescue and direct readers to its own channels for adoption, fostering, volunteering or donations.

Privacy and sensitive details

We avoid publishing private addresses, personal telephone numbers, precise locations that could endanger an animal, confidential veterinary records or unnecessary identifying information. Please do not include anything in a submission that you would not want our editorial team to review.

Changing your mind

Before publication, you may withdraw a community submission by contacting us from the same email address used to send it. After publication, you may still ask us to review or remove material you supplied. We will consider the request promptly, while recognising that search engines, archives or third-party shares may take time to update.

How to ask a permission question

Email hello@allaboutthepets.com before submitting if ownership, consent or privacy is unclear. Include no sensitive attachments until the question has been answered.
