Privacy notice
All About the Pets respects your privacy. This notice explains what information we use, why we use it and the choices you have.
Last updated: 20 August 2026
Who is responsible for your information?
All About the Pets is responsible for personal information collected through this website. For privacy questions or requests, email hello@allaboutthepets.com.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:
- your name and email address when you join the newsletter;
- contact details, story text, pet details, social handle and any photograph you submit for a community feature;
- your name, email, rescue details and nomination text when you nominate a rescue;
- messages and information you choose to send by email; and
- basic technical and security information produced when the website is requested, such as an IP address, browser type and request time.
Please do not send confidential veterinary records, payment details or other sensitive information through our community forms or ordinary email.
Why we use it
- Newsletter: to send news and stories when you have consented. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Community and rescue submissions: to review, verify and respond to the submission, and to prepare a feature only where the necessary permission exists.
- Messages and enquiries: to reply and to take requested steps before entering a contract.
- Website operation and security: to deliver the site, prevent misuse and diagnose faults where this is necessary for our legitimate interests.
- Relevant business introductions: we may use a public, generic business contact address to send a limited business-to-business introduction where we believe the service is relevant. Every message identifies us and includes a simple opt-out.
Who receives the information?
We do not sell personal information. Information may be processed by trusted providers that host the website, store form submissions or deliver services we use. We share only what is needed for that purpose, and may also disclose information where the law requires it.
Links to our shop, social channels and third-party sellers take you to separate services. Their own privacy notices apply when you use them.
How long we keep it
- Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
- Unpublished community and rescue submissions are normally reviewed or deleted within 12 months.
- Where content is published, essential permission and correspondence records may be kept while the content remains live and for a reasonable period afterwards.
- Public business contact details used for an introduction are normally reviewed or deleted within 90 days. A minimal suppression record may be kept so that we can honour an opt-out.
- Other messages are kept only as long as reasonably needed to handle the enquiry, meet legal duties or resolve a dispute.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may ask for a copy of your information, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or an objection to how it is used. You may withdraw consent at any time. Email us from the address connected with the information so that we can verify the request.
You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office. Visit ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
